in which i try to put into words what words and writing mean to me (or how i spent two hours explaining why i relish this abstract writing thing)
It isn’t always like this.
I fell asleep to F. Scott Fitzgerald. I fell asleep, drifted into a nameless universe, pitying Jay Gatsby, marvelling at certain sentences and lines —already stuck in my head after a single read—, despising Tom and Daisy Buchanan. I fell asleep to undervalued efforts and achievements, to a crushed life-long dream, to an entire world swept under the rug by the one person for whom it was created in the first place. I fell asleep to F. Scott Fitzgerald…the same way I have fallen asleep to Charles Dickens or Gabriel García Márquez before.

Radio waves.
There is that one moment
stuck right between sleep and
wakefulness -a pleasant kind
of limbo,
of surreality and tangibility
and radio transmissions- in which
dreams and reality merge in
a blissful collision.
You move like ever-present
radio waves
through all the motions;
you permeate
my dreams, shape my reality;
can’t we just live
in limbo
in a garden
in a blanket fort
where I fill the spaces between your fingers
with my own,
where there are no monsters
in the dark,
where the sunlight glitters on your hair and
the rain filters through the ceiling,
where the only cracks in the tranquil silence are
hushed whispers
secret smiles
stolen glances,
where I trace my fingertips
across your face
through your hair
over the line of your spine
(each vertebra a story I want to tell
a radio wave crackling in a different dimension,)
where there’s only
you and I, and
the creased spine,
the absorbed ink on
the yellow pages
of the book we write;
just you and I.

A/N: Alright, so I’m posting this one now to make up for the fact that I probably won’t update for about two weeks (no worries, I’m quite ahead in my writing, so there will be another update) since I will be focused on another two…projects (a.k.a. the continuation of my JBelle one-shot, and another unrelated one-shot that’s been bugging my brain for a few weeks now). Either way, enjoy!

Summary: Rachel Berry finds herself in a ship built in honor to the hundredth anniversary of the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic. Will history repeat itself, or not?
Spoilers: none. This is entirely AU.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters, nor am I in any way affiliated to Glee. Everything you’ll find here is the product of my imagination. The title is the same as a song by The Decemberists, which I obviously do not own.
A/N: This story is dedicated to Alyssa. Inspiration came from luckypressure’s drawing, and this is just my attempt to tell the entire story. All inconsistencies and mistakes are mine, since this is not beta’d.
A/N2: The songs used in this chapter are credited at the end of the chapter.
A/N3: This chapter, in particular, is dedicated to Caro, Alyssa, and Jay, for their birthdays :)
A/N4: I’m incredibly sorry for taking so long to update. But writer’s block got in the way. And then life got in the way. But here’s the update now :)
